Icelandair Celebrates Inaugural Flight to Istanbul

Excitement filled the air as Icelandair launched its first flight to Istanbul.

Icelandair has added a new destination to its network, the historic city of Istanbul in Türkiye. The first flight took place on Friday, September 5, as the Icelandair crew and excited guests took off to Istanbul.

Icelandair will operate flights to Istanbul two to three times a week this winter, with a flight time of approximately five hours and 30 minutes.

Passengers going to Istanbul were treated to light refreshments at KEF to mark the occasion.

Historic City and Convenient Connections

Istanbul is a city full of history, flavour, and charm. The city is known for its historic landmarks, vibrant streets, and the iconic Grand Bazaar. Many tourists begin exploring the historic centre, Sultanahmet, where the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the opulent Topkapi Palace are all within walking distance, offering a glimpse into the city’s architectural splendour and storied past.

The city is an exciting addition to Icelandair’s extensive network and offers convenient connections to Asia and the Middle East. Alongside direct flights to the Turkish city, Icelandair will further strengthen its cooperation with Turkish Airlines.
