654 Thousand Passengers in May

A total of 654,281 passengers travelled through Keflavík Airport (KEF) during the month, representing a 6.8% decrease compared with May 2025. In total, 24 airlines operated flights to 63 destinations. The most popular destinations were Copenhagen, Paris, London, and New York. The busiest day of the month was 31 May, when 25,632 passengers travelled through KEF.

According to figures from the Icelandic Tourist Board, there were approximately 163,000 departures of foreign passengers from KEF in May, 0.4% fewer than in May 2025.

Around 52,000 U.S. travellers departed Iceland during the month, accounting for 31.8% of all foreign passenger departures. Their numbers remained broadly stable compared with the same month last year, declining only 1.8%.

Since the beginning of the year, Icelandic residents have made approximately 248,000 trips abroad, representing a 14.5% decrease compared with the same period last year.
